Evolution of a cover. Part 1: initial sketch

Took some doing too. So here's the first sketch

I ditched this for two reasons. Time was tight give fully painted a proper go PLUS the similarity to last years illusHERE

Painted gorillas of the night

So its 5am, can't sleep, I'm in bed and watching Voyage To The Bottom Of the Sea. How better to also pass the time than scribble another gorilla.
Watercolour pencils on card treated with a few layers of gesso primer.
A bit heavy on the blue eye shadow. This isnt a proper scan, its a photo, but it does look better the more bleary eyed you are

Starlet

Waiting for the movie

Doodling whilst waiting to see The Orphange.
This happy image in no way relates to the film which is as chilling a film you could wish to see.

Scanner busted, so this is a photo

Fabio Capello

Looks better than my atempt at Beckham (that bloke can be a bugger to draw). Capell though is an almost instant caricatature. Done for the sports backpage.
Since you ask, no, I don't agree with his appointment.
